Description

The official playscript of the original West End production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn't much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband, and father of three school-age children.

While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.

The playscript for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was originally released as a 'special rehearsal edition' alongside the opening of Jack Thorne's play in London's West End in summer 2016. Based on an original story by J.K. Rowling, John Tiffany and Jack Thorne, the play opened to rapturous reviews from theatregoers and critics alike, while the official playscript became an immediate global bestseller.

This definitive and final playscript updates the 'special rehearsal edition' with the conclusive and final dialogue from the play, which has subtly changed since its rehearsals, as well as a conversation piece between director John Tiffany and writer Jack Thorne, who share stories and insights about reading playscripts. This edition also includes useful background information including the Potter family tree and a timeline of events from the Wizarding World prior to the beginning of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

There are many thing wrong with this book. First of all, why write a story that revolves around time travel if every possible item to do it was destroyed in the original series. Also, for plot convince, the time turners do not affect the user’s age depending on how far back they travelled. If that logic complies, Scorpius would be dead already and Albus would almost be dead. But no. And, Harry is humble, not a stuck-up. They made Harry how Malfloy was and Malfloy became like Harry. And that’s only the tip of the iceberg. And, since when did Voldemort have a daughter? His character isn’t supposed to be able to love. These authors did a horrible job of recreating the magic of the Jk Rowling.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is a great play script. There were a lot of new characters that weren’t really introduced, so it was a little confusing. The villains were also basically a copy of the villains in the Harry Potter series. And it’s pretty much repeating. Throughout the entire story, Albus and Scorpius were traveling through time. But what truly makes this story a good one is the power of story. The Harry Potter series is one incredible story, and building off of the series makes this play script amazing. I love Harry Potter, and I’m very happy that there was this story. The Harry Potter series has also taught me an important yet simple lesson. Love and friendship is the key to everything.
