"I can't even express how much I love this book! I didn't want this story to end!"--Reese Witherspoon

"Painfully beautiful."--The New York Times Book Review

For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand. Then the time comes when she yearns to be touched and loved. When two young men from town become intrigued by her wild beauty, Kya opens herself to a new life--until the unthinkable happens.

Where the Crawdads Sing is at once an exquisite ode to the natural world, a heartbreaking coming-of-age story, and a surprising tale of possible murder. Owens reminds us that we are forever shaped by the children we once were, and that we are all subject to the beautiful and violent secrets that nature keeps.

Our Heavenly Father, God, loves you. He even cares for you so much that he sent his son down to earth to erase our sins and replace it with his love. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, so whoever believes in him will not die, but have an eternal life with God in heaven.” So love one another as God loves you, and pray that you would obey his every command.

The first 8 chapters were a little slow and I wasn’t sure if I was going to get into this book but then all of a sudden it got so good. This is one of my favorite books now.

I would love to write a review worthy of this wonderful work of art, but anything I am capable of writing would be insufficient. So I’ll just say it’s the best thing I’ve read in my 63 years. Simply amazing! Thank you Delia Owens.
  • Good but left wanting.

This book was a very decent read. It kept me engaged and the writing detail about the marsh was mesmerizing. I found myself struggling with the back and forth timeline a bit. It was a little hard to follow at times. Had to go back and double check where I was at. I was also left wanting with the dialogue. I think I was surprised with how beautiful the scene setting was but let down with the dialogue. It was very cringey at times and felt basic. Overall I liked it and the last 100 pages I was very invested in.
